Are you an experienced leader in structural or mechanical projects looking for your next challenge? We have exciting opportunities for Maintenance Technicians to join a major maritime program delivering complex naval and commercial projects. This is a full-time permanent role based in Garden Island. A permanent or contracting option available; Australian citizenship is essential for this position. Defence marine technicians are highly encouraged to apply!
You will play a critical role in the operational control and delivery of large-scale projects, ensuring safety, quality, and performance standards are met. You’ll manage and coordinate supervisors, subcontractors, and resources to achieve successful outcomes on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of structural or mechanical work packages.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Manage subcontractors and supervisors to meet contractual obligations.
- Monitor progress, analyse variances, and implement corrective actions.
- Liaise with stakeholders to ensure workforce, equipment, and resources align with project plans.
- Conduct inspections to maintain quality and technical standards.
- Prepare and review reports, schedules, and documentation.
- Support trials and commissioning activities, ensuring timely defect resolution.
What We’re Looking For
- Certificate in a relevant discipline (structural or mechanical).
- Proven experience managing execution of production subcontract work.
- Strong understanding of safety leadership in complex industrial environments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- ITAR compliance
Desirable:
- Experience in naval procurement and repair processes.
- Previous superintendent experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment
