Our client is a reputable government department. The internal Legal Services team maintains professional independence and provides comprehensive legal support across the agency’s operations. Its responsibilities include delivering legal advice, managing litigation matters, supporting criminal and financial investigations, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance, and drafting and submitting applications for statutory warrants.
Your new role
You will sit amongst a high-performing team of lawyers and will be responsible for managing designated legal matters relating to criminal investigations, financial investigations, and, where relevant, coercive enquiries. This role ensures the organisation’s operations align with applicable laws, policies, and procedures. It involves delivering independent legal advice and support across various transactions and litigation activities, as well as conducting legal research and analysis to assist the agency in fulfilling its statutory functions.
What you'll need to succeed
Admitted to practice as a lawyer in Australia
Ideally between 3–6 years' PAE with a focus on litigation
Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills, including an ability to apply legal procedures and principles.
Ability to work in a high-volume work environment and prioritise work.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including experience liaising and cooperating with other legal professionals.
The ability to present options in order to resolve legal issues, including the capacity to anticipate and provide independent advice regarding possible legal issues arising from recommendations and case reviews.
