An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Legal Counsel (3–5 years PQE) to join a high-performing in‑house legal team within a global financial services organisation. This role offers broad exposure across commercial, regulatory and project-based work, supporting an innovative business operating across Australia and New Zealand.
This is an excellent position for a commercially minded lawyer who has a keen interest in financial services and enjoys variety, stakeholder engagement, and the chance to work closely in a collaborative legal function.
Your new role
Working within a collegiate APAC legal team, you will provide high-quality, practical legal support to a business delivering market‑leading solutions. The role offers a genuine mix of responsibilities, spanning:
Commercial & Corporate Work
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements
- Managing contracts with external vendors, including technology, services and operational suppliers
- Advising internal stakeholders on commercial and contractual risks
Regulatory & Product Support
- Providing general legal guidance on regulatory issues, including financial services, privacy and consumer law
- Assisting with the preparation and review of product-related disclosures and documentation
- Supporting legal requirements connected to the organisation’s trading and investment platforms
Projects & Cross-Border Collaboration
- Contributing to APAC-wide and global legal projects, including strategic initiatives driven from offshore offices
- Liaising with international legal teams to ensure consistency and best practice
- Participating in business-led projects involving technology, product development and operational changes
What you'll need to succeed
Essential
- 3–5 years’ PAE experience with a current practising certificate
- Strong grounding in general commercial and corporate law.
- Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills
- Ability to manage competing deadlines and operate autonomously when needed
- Confidence working with stakeholders across all levels of the business
- A genuine interest in financial services
Desirable
- Exposure to financial services
- Experience advising on privacy, consumer law or advising on corporation act
- Prior in‑house experience or a secondment (highly regarded)
