Your new role

As the Lead Manufacturing Engineer, you will be sitting within the Infrastructure & Equipment Engineering Team. You will develop and deliver technical specifications for manufacturing infrastructure and equipment, working closely with both internal and external stakeholders.

The Lead Engineer will work with other engineers and subject-matter experts to develop detailed infrastructure or equipment performance specifications that meet the requirements of the manufacturing processes. As part of the Infrastructure Team, the Lead Engineer will be able to translate the operational requirements for various production processes into functional requirements and solutions to enable the infrastructure design and/or equipment procurement. The role will contribute to safety risk assessments and check for compliance with Australian Regulations and Standards. The role will work closely with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including the broader Infrastructure Team, to integrate the equipment and infrastructure solutions.

Tasks may include:
  • Completion of basic calculations/modelling/analysis;
  • Checking the work of other engineers;
  • Sub-system/component design;
  • Performing analysis using existing tools and procedures;
  • Provision of technical direction throughout a design project's lifecycle;
  • Preparation of engineering documentation such as specifications, sketches, test procedures and engineering reports;
  • Review and approval of engineering artefacts; and
  • Other duties as assigned by a supervisor/manager.

What you'll need to succeed

It is essential that you have:
- Australian Citizenship and no ITAR restraints, to gain and maintain the necessary security clearance
- Educational Qualifications satisfying membership of Engineers Australia at MIEAust Level
- Training in Project Management Fundamentals (or equivalent)
- Experience working in the industrial manufacturing industry on technical specifications and/or compliance
- Experience project managing infrastructure/equipment design, procurement, manufacturing, installation and/or commissioning work

It would be highly beneficial to have Defence Shipbuilding experience.
