Due to expansion, a rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Lead Grid Engineer to join their high‑performing Power Solutions team.

Your new role
As the Lead Grid Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting complex grid connection activities throughout the sales, construction and operational phases of large‑scale renewable energy projects. Working with a multidisciplinary engineering group, you will ensure technically sound, compliant and commercially competitive grid solutions are delivered across Australia and New Zealand.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Conducting and supporting power system studies to define generator performance standards, control system functional specifications and reactive plant requirements.
  • Coordinating closely with internal grid modelling teams.
  • Reviewing Balance of Plant (BoP) design packages, drawings and technical submissions from subcontractors to ensure compliance with standards, regulations and project requirements.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of grid connection documentation and managing technical interfaces with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leading procurement, installation, commissioning and testing activities for control systems and grid monitoring equipment.
  • Conducting generator performance standards testing, model validation (R2), and supporting generator registration with regulatory bodies.
  • Managing external engineering consultancies where required.
  • Preparing technical reports, responses and customer‑facing presentations.
  • Participating in design, risk, safety and technical review workshops.
  • Reviewing tender specifications, variations, RFIs and payment claims.
What you’ll need to succeed
  • Registered or Certified Professional Engineer (RPEng or CPEng).
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or equivalent.
  • Proven experience delivering grid connection and compliance activities within major infrastructure or renewable energy projects.
  • Strong familiarity with generator and power systems modelling (wind modelling advantageous).
  • Proficiency using simulation tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD and/or PowerFactory.
  • Experience reviewing grid compliance deliverables in a construction setting.
  • Substation electrical design knowledge beneficial.
  • Ability to engage effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, authorities and internal teams.
  • Able to perform under pressure while managing multiple technical workstreams.
  • Experience with Tier 1 contractors or large‑scale delivery partners highly valued.
