You will play a critical leadership role, working across cross-functional teams to modernise data architecture, uplift analytics capability, and support data-driven decision-making across a complex, enterprise environment.

Your new role

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance data platforms and pipelines
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of data engineers
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and data scientists to translate requirements into data solutions
• Oversee the development and optimisation of ETL/ELT processes
• Drive adoption of modern cloud-based data platforms (data lakes, warehouses)
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance standards are maintained
• Conduct code reviews and enforce engineering best practices
• Manage integration across multiple structured and unstructured data sources
• Support DevOps practices, including CI/CD, testing, and monitoring of data pipelines

What you'll need to succeed

• Proven experience in a Lead or Senior Data Engineer role (5+ years)
• Strong expertise in modern data engineering tools (e.g. Spark, Databricks, Airflow)
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Advanced SQL skills and proficiency in Python or Scala
• Experience with data warehousing technologies (e.g. Snowflake, Synapse, BigQuery)
• Strong understanding of data modelling methodologies (Kimball, Data Vault)
• Experience implementing data governance and quality frameworks
• Exposure to real-time or streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka, Event Hubs) desirable
• Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership capability
• Experience within large, complex organisations (education, public sector, or similar)
• Exposure to enterprise data transformation programs
• Experience with reporting/visualisation tools such as Power BI
• Understanding of security and compliance in regulated environments
