A state-of-the-art sheet metal company based in Perth, looking for a lagger for a temporary role with a permanent role a possibility.

Your new role

Your duties will include but not limited to:

Preparation of Duct Sections for Insulation

* Inspect completed ductwork.

* Clean and prepare surfaces before insulation application.

Installation of Insulation Materials

* Measure, cut, and fit insulation materials (e.g. Glasswool blanket or board, Armaflex, polyester, acoustic liner…) to ductwork.

* Install both internal and external insulation as per specifications.

Application of Protective Cladding

* Apply vapour barriers, foil facings, or aluminium cladding as required.

* Use tools like tin snips, knives, staple guns, and adhesives.

Taping, Sealing and Finishing

* Seal all joints, seams, and penetrations using appropriate tapes, mastics, or glue.

* Ensure insulation is neat, secure, and free from gaps or damage.

Use of Tools and Machinery

* Operate cutting tables, guillotines, and measuring tools safely and accurately.*

* Maintain tools in good working condition.

Quality Assurance
* Inspect completed insulated ductwork for conformity to specifications and workshop standards.
* Ensure all insulation meets fire, acoustic, and thermal performance requirements.
Material Management
* Track and manage the use of insulation materials and consumables.
* Report low stock or damaged materials to supervisors.
Workplace Health and Safety
* Adhere to all workshop safety protocols and PPE requirements.
* Manage exposure to insulation fibres safely and dispose of waste appropriately.
* Keep the work area clean and organised.
Collaboration and Communication
* Work closely with sheet metal workers and supervisors to coordinate timelines.
* Communicate insulation progress and flag any issues or delays.
Training and Mentoring (if applicable)*
* Assist apprentices or less experienced laggers with proper techniques and safety practices.
