My client is Australia's leading nuclear science and research facility. At the forefront of scientific discovery, it supports critical research through complex Scientific Instrument Computers that enable laboratory measurements, industrial control, and data acquisition. Many of these systems currently rely on end-of-life Linux-based platforms in need of modernisation.

Your new role

As a Junior Linux Remediation Engineer, you will play a key role in upgrading, isolating, or decommissioning legacy Linux-based systems to address cybersecurity and operational risks. Working alongside scientists and IT teams, you'll assess and rebuild systems, support remediation projects, and contribute to a safer, more efficient technical environment.

What you'll need to succeed

• Hands-on experience with Linux-based operating systems
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
• Familiarity with IT security best practices
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn
• Eligibility to obtain NV1 Security Clearance
• Background in IT support roles or hardware rollouts
• Exposure to scientific instrumentation or peripheral devices
• Scripting skills (e.g. PowerShell, Python, Java, C++)
• Familiarity with networking and cybersecurity frameworks
