Your new role
The IT Systems Analyst designs and analyses systems to meet business and technical requirements, ensuring alignment with approved architectures, standards and performance constraints. This role is the bridge between product, architecture and delivery teams, translating complex concepts into detailed designs, specifications and backlog-ready requirements across the ATO Digital Identity program.
What you'll need to succeed
- Proven experience translating business requirements into system specifications within agile delivery teams
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with ability to work across technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience working within SAFe Agile or similar scaled delivery frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high-quality backlog items across complex programs
- Baseline security clearance (or eligibility to obtain prior to 1 July 2026)
- Australian citizenship
What you'll get in return
- Translate business needs into functional and non-functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria in partnership with the Scrum team
- Collaborate with Product Owners to plan and prioritise features, ensuring backlog items are well-defined and ready for development
- Maintain backlog health including story elaboration, iteration planning and dependency identification
- Identify and extract technical and functional requirements from use cases, ensuring completeness and traceability
- Create and maintain system documentation including operational guides, UI specifications, test cases and integration details
- Support large-scale release planning by providing clarity on scope, dependencies and delivery expectations
- Evaluate options and conduct impact analysis across system change activities
- Proactively resolve impediments by facilitating communication and addressing ambiguities
- Contribute to continuous improvement through insights on process efficiency, requirement quality and team collaboration
- Ensure solutions balance functionality, quality and feasibility within delivery constraints
