International Governance Manager

Provide strategic governance advice and technical support to strengthen international development programs
Your New Organisation
This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing team within a national security-aligned international development program. The team supports governance, education, and social protection initiatives on an international scale, with a strong focus on quality, coherence, and strategic impact.

Your New Role
As the International Governance Adviser, you will provide expert technical and strategic input to support governance programming and policy. You’ll work closely with Canberra-based teams, regional offices, and delivery partners to strengthen governance outcomes and build internal capability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver responsive and high-quality technical assistance to improve governance programming.
  • Review and assure design documents, concepts, and partnership plans.
  • Conduct governance analysis, including value-for-money assessments and strategic evaluations.
  • Represent the organisation in regional and country-level governance dialogues.
  • Lead capability-building initiatives including training, mentoring, and development of guidance materials.
  • Provide strategic input into operational policy, procedures, and communications tools.
  • Engage internal networks to ensure coherent approaches to governance and development.

What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain/hold a NV1 Security Clearance.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Governance, Economics, International Development or related field.
  • Strong understanding of broad geopolitics and development context.
  • Familiarity with international development programming cycles, performance, and risk frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and credibly.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in training or capability development is highly desirable.
