Intermediate Project Manager

Sydney-based opportunity for civic public and commercial building upgrade programme, great rates, long term.
An excellent Local Government opportunity for a junior to intermediate level Project Manager, this busy custodian organisation requires additional expertise for their Capital Works (principally building projects) upgrade programme. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will act as the client’s representative for the refurbishment and upgrade of a variety of corporate, community and recreational projects. These could include roof replacements, whole building services upgrades and remedial work for concrete structures.

Your duties will include:
  • Prepare Request for Tender and Quote documents and coordinate the procurement process
  • Procure and manage the services of contractors and professional consultants for compliance with the conditions of the contract, recording and reporting on compliance to the Project Manager.
  • Check all items of contract work as executed and report any defects or non-compliance with the contract documents and report on non-conformance.
  • Measure quantities of work and, where necessary, authorise, the rates charged by the Contractor.
  • Respond in an acceptable and courteous manner to enquiries, public complaints and requests related to works being monitored.
  • Investigate and prepare reports on any potential or actual public liability claims.
  • Management of concurrent remediation and upgrade projects and their delivery.

You will have:
  • Working knowledge of the Building Code of Australia.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating tender and quotation submissions.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management principles and use of project management tools.
  • Demonstrated budgetary and financial management experience.
  • Running multiple smaller (20k to $5m) projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated experience with Excel spreadsheets, MS Word databases etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

You will have relevant qualifications (building, architecture, engineering, trade etc) and somewhere around 3–5 years or more experience in project management. Ideally, you will have exposure to building upgrade and refurbishment projects and preferably as a client-side representative.

This role is a contract position paying good rates of $600 - 700/day + Super. The role will be an agency contract running for up to 12 months, possibly more, and is only open to candidates with full working rights in Australia.
