An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Manager to join a large public division during a period of leave cover. This ASO8 contract role will see you lead high-level ICT and digital initiatives that support public health planning, response, and data-driven decision-making. In this role, you will manage projects that deliver secure, automated and fit‑for‑purpose digital solutions, ensuring systems align with business needs, legislation, policy and best practice. You will work closely with senior leaders, technical specialists and external service providers to enhance the digital capability of the division and support delivery of strategic public health outcomes.

Your new role

• Leading and managing complex public sector ICT infrastructure and digital enablement projects
• Acting as a subject-matter expert on public information systems and digital environments
• Initiating, planning and overseeing system improvements that enhance automation, security and usability
• Partnering with internal stakeholders and external vendors to negotiate and deliver successful outcomes
• Ensuring technology changes comply with relevant legislation, policies, standards and governance frameworks
• Analysing current practices across the division to identify system gaps, risks and future requirements
• Providing people leadership and operational oversight within the information systems and digital environment
• Supporting business change and continuous improvement across public systems

What you'll need to succeed

• Proven experience delivering or overseeing ICT, digital or information systems projects within complex and regulated environments
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to influence senior leaders and technical teams
• Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into effective system solutions
• Experience working within government, health, or another highly regulated sector (highly regarded)
• Broad understanding of ICT infrastructure, digital platforms, data environments and governance principles
• Strong leadership capability with the ability to manage teams through change
• Availability to commence a short-term contract (2–6 months)
