A well‑established organisation within the human services sector is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner with strong Industrial Relations expertise to support a busy and fast‑paced People & Culture function. With lovely offices on the Melbourne city fringe and a supportive leadership team, this is an excellent opportunity to step into a pivotal role during a period of uplift and reset.
Your new role
Reporting to a senior People leader and partnering alongside another HRBP, you will take the lead on a range of employee and industrial relations matters. The team has significantly lifted its standard of service delivery, and as a result the organisation is committed to addressing issues properly and efficiently.
You will manage an active caseload of ER matters and Fairwork matters, and triage cases awaiting response.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Working to support the P&C Manager on a number of IR/ER cases
- Conducting performance and conduct processes, investigations and formal responses
- Advising leaders on award interpretation and compliance
- Managing termination processes and responding to representative correspondence
- Ensuring documentation, process and timelines meet Fair Work and organisational standards
- Supporting leaders to confidently navigate people matters
- Providing high‑quality HR partnership across your portfolio
- Contributing to a reset of people practices, culture uplift and consistency in case handling
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a confident and capable HR practitioner with:
- Strong IR/ER experience and the ability to step into active cases immediately
- Demonstrated experience managing performance, conduct, investigations and Fair Work claims
- Strong understanding of modern awards and the Fair Work framework
- Ability to quickly build credibility and manage stakeholders at all levels
- Independence, resilience and a hands‑on approach
- Ability to ‘hit the ground running’ in a fast‑paced, changing environment
Experience in human services, healthcare, disability, aged care or similar will be highly regarded.
