Heritage Supervisor - Fieldwork

8:6 Roster - Residential in Karratha/Dampier
We are currently seeking an experienced Supervisor to support the delivery of a cultural heritage survey program. This is a field-focused role with regular travel to remote sites, offering an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Duration: Initial 6-month contract
Roster: 8:6
Location: Residential in Dampier or Karratha (no FIFO)

About the Role:
Reporting to the Superintendent of Heritage Fieldwork, you will play a key role in facilitating and ensuring the safe and effective delivery of cultural heritage survey programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage contractors supporting the heritage survey program;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders through effective communication and engagement;
  • Deliver field-based survey activities;
  • Prepare and implement journey management and initial response plans;
  • Supervise field survey teams, including contractors and Traditional Owner representatives, ensuring alignment with safety systems and processes;
  • Maintain fieldwork equipment, vehicles, and associated assets;
  • Support a range of survey activities including social, archaeological, ethnographic, botanical, and environmental work;
  • Provide guidance and coaching to survey participants in line with HSEC and cultural resource management procedures;
  • Lead critical risk management activities within the team.

What you'll need to succeed:
  • A strong commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing;
  • Experience in leadership roles within field-based environments;
  • Solid understanding of field safety and risk management practices;
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills;
  • Experience working collaboratively with Traditional Owner groups;
  • The ability to undertake physically demanding fieldwork, often in hot and remote conditions;
  • Willingness to travel for extended periods (up to 10 days at a time);
  • A current Manual C Class Driver’s Licence;
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening;
  • Relevant Australian working rights;
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (advantageous);
  • Senior First Aid Certification (advantageous);
  • 4WD accreditation (advantageous);
  • GIS and/or navigation skills (advantageous).
