We are currently seeking an experienced Supervisor to support the delivery of a cultural heritage survey program. This is a field-focused role with regular travel to remote sites, offering an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Duration: Initial 6-month contract
Roster: 8:6
Location: Residential in Dampier or Karratha (no FIFO)
About the Role:Reporting to the Superintendent of Heritage Fieldwork, you will play a key role in facilitating and ensuring the safe and effective delivery of cultural heritage survey programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage contractors supporting the heritage survey program;
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders through effective communication and engagement;
- Deliver field-based survey activities;
- Prepare and implement journey management and initial response plans;
- Supervise field survey teams, including contractors and Traditional Owner representatives, ensuring alignment with safety systems and processes;
- Maintain fieldwork equipment, vehicles, and associated assets;
- Support a range of survey activities including social, archaeological, ethnographic, botanical, and environmental work;
- Provide guidance and coaching to survey participants in line with HSEC and cultural resource management procedures;
- Lead critical risk management activities within the team.
What you'll need to succeed:- A strong commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing;
- Experience in leadership roles within field-based environments;
- Solid understanding of field safety and risk management practices;
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills;
- Experience working collaboratively with Traditional Owner groups;
- The ability to undertake physically demanding fieldwork, often in hot and remote conditions;
- Willingness to travel for extended periods (up to 10 days at a time);
- A current Manual C Class Driver’s Licence;
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening;
- Relevant Australian working rights;
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (advantageous);
- Senior First Aid Certification (advantageous);
- 4WD accreditation (advantageous);
- GIS and/or navigation skills (advantageous).
