Your new role

In this role, your responsibilities will include:
  • Carry out scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, and repairs to ensure fleet safety and reliability
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, brake, air‑conditioning, engine, and transmission systems to manufacturer and legislative standards.
  • Perform brake testing, wheel rotations, diagnostics, and programming adjustments where equipment and authority permit
  • Respond to breakdowns and call‑outs and participate in the on‑call roster as required
  • Accurately complete work orders, maintenance records, and workshop documentation
  • Assist with parts identification, stock control, ordering, and security
  • Support and mentor apprentices and trade assistants, ensuring safe work practices at all times
  • Maintain a strong safety‑first approach by identifying hazards, reporting incidents, and complying with WHS, environmental, and quality requirements

What you'll need to succeed

You will have experience as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic and have knowledge or experience with buses.

Skills and Qualifications required for this role:
  • Trade qualification: Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology.
  • Previous mechanical experience in providing maintenance and repair.
  • A medium-rigid license is essential, heavy-rigid license preferable.
  • Forklift license (preferable).
  • Exposure to diagnostics via computer-controlled systems is preferable.
  • Effective customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
