Your new role

As the Coordinator Governance, you will play a pivotal leadership role within the organisation, overseeing the delivery of governance activities that support ethical, transparent, and compliant decision-making across the council.
You will lead a dedicated Governance Team, coordinating the development and implementation of governance frameworks, policies, and systems that align with legislative requirements and organisational values.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing expert advice and support to internal stakeholders on governance matters.
  • Managing Council committees, including secretariat functions and resources.
  • Overseeing the development of the Annual Report and other statutory reporting.
  • Ensuring robust systems are in place for public interest disclosures and code of conduct compliance.
  • Promoting ethical standards and professional behaviour across the organisation.
  • Coordinating delegated authorities and guiding staff on report and document creation.
  • Supporting the conduct of local government elections and monitoring ward boundaries.
  • Leading governance-related projects and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
This is a 6-month contract position, offering a salary of \$115,000–\$133,000 + Super, depending on experience.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Demonstrated experience in governance and people management.
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant professional experience.
  • Strong understanding of governance frameworks, ethical standards, and legislative compliance.
  • Advanced communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage projects, lead teams, and drive business improvements.
