Governance Corporate Planning | 4-Month Contract | WFH Flexibility and 9-day Fortnight

Your new role
We are seeking a dedicated governance corporate planning & policy officer. You will be required to strengthen and maintain the council’s suite of policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure that council officers are appropriately guided in the execution of their duties. This position is also responsible for compiling and presenting regular reports on council’s performance against key corporate goals, including those outlined in council’s Operational Plan.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify gaps in council policies, guidelines, and procedures through benchmarking and stakeholder consultation
  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts to develop and improve practical governance documents.
  • Maintain and update the Policy Framework and ensure alignment across all policies and procedures.
  • Support the development and reporting of corporate and operational plans.
  • Conduct workshops and training to engage staff and community in planning and policy understanding.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative reporting requirements and assist in preparing performance reports.
  • Process administrative action complaints and Right to Information applications.
  • Follow safe work procedures and complete required training to ensure workplace safety.
  • Undertake special projects and contribute to the development of business unit plans as needed.

    What you'll need to succeed
    To be successful in the role, you will demonstrate:
  • Proven experience in facilitating change and delivering significant business improvements.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills with initiative and adaptability.
  • Solid understanding of corporate planning, performance, and reporting principles, including Policy Frameworks and Corporate/Operational Plans.
  • Experience delivering presentations in a corporate setting.
  • Working knowledge of local government legislation relevant to corporate and operational planning.
  • Qualifications in governance, corporate planning, or relevant practical experience in a local government governance team or related field.
  • Minimum of a Queensland C class provisional driver’s licence.
