Foster and Kinship Care Coordinator

Rockhampton, QLD | Full‑time (Fixed‑term) | SCHADS Level 6 | $110,455 per annum + Super

We are seeking an experienced Foster and Kinship Care Coordinator to lead the delivery of foster, kinship, and intensive care programs supporting children and young people in out‑of‑home care across Central Queensland.
This role provides leadership to a dedicated team and plays a key part in ensuring safe, high‑quality placements, strong carer support, and full compliance with legislative and contractual requirements.


Your new role

Reporting to the Foster Care Manager, you will manage day‑to‑day operations of the foster and kinship care programs while providing practice leadership and guidance to staff. You will work closely with carers, staff, and external stakeholders to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead and support a team delivering foster, kinship, and intensive care services
  • Oversee carer recruitment, assessment, training, monitoring, and support
  • Ensure high‑quality placements that meet all licensing, safety, and care standards
  • Participate in a rotating on‑call roster to support carers
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government and community stakeholders
  • Provide practice guidance informed by trauma, attachment, grief, loss, and child development
  • Ensure staff understand service agreements, outcomes, and program requirements
  • Manage rostering, workloads, and staffing within program budgets
  • Maintain accurate program data, reporting, and financial oversight
  • Ensure all contractual, legislative, and compliance obligations are met
  • Promote continuous improvement, quality practice, and a safe work environment


What you'll need to succeed

You are a motivated and capable leader with experience in child protection or out‑of‑home care services. You bring strong people leadership skills, sound judgement, and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high service standards.
Essential requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Behavioural Science, Psychology, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience leading a team in child protection or out‑of‑home care services
  • Strong knowledge of child protection legislation and practice frameworks
  • Ability to guide staff to deliver quality services to children and young people who have experienced harm or trauma
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff, resources, and program budgets
  • Current Queensland Open Driver’s Licence and ability to travel as required
