We are currently partnering with a Local Government organisation based in Brisbane CBD to recruit a Policy Writer for a 12-month contract.
Your new role
As the Financial Policy Writer, you will play a key role in supporting the rollout of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system by aligning finance policies, procedures, and business processes with legislative and internal governance requirements. During this assignment, you will be responsible for:
- Researching, reviewing, drafting, and updating finance-related policies, procedures, manuals, and position papers.
- Ensuring documentation aligns with ERP system capabilities, business rules, and internal controls.
- Collaborating with finance, procurement, audit, and compliance teams to support efficient service delivery and risk mitigation.
- Monitoring legislative and regulatory changes to maintain policy relevance.
- Conducting gap analyses and recommending improvements to strengthen financial controls.
- Facilitating stakeholder consultations and workshops to promote policy awareness.
- Supporting internal audits and maintaining a central repository of financial policy documents.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Finance, Public Policy or a related discipline.
- Proven experience writing finance policy and procedure documentation, particularly in the context of ERP implementations.
- Understanding of financial operations, internal controls, and compliance in public sector or local government environments.
- Ability to translate technical ERP design into clear operational documentation.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint, Jira, Teams).
- Ability to obtain a Criminal History Check.
Desirable:
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Experience in local government or public finance reform projects.
