Join Hays in supporting a dynamic local government on the North Sunshine Coast as they deliver a major disaster recovery program. This long-term contract opportunity offers the chance to play a pivotal role in financial governance across a $90M+ portfolio of recovery works funded by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA).
Your new role
Ensure compliance with QRA funding guidelines and maintain accurate records of eligible expenditure
Track financial performance across capital and operational recovery projects
Partner with internal teams (finance, civil works, fleet, project delivery) and external stakeholders to optimise financial outcomes
Conduct transaction reviews, manage job costing, and post journals to support funding recovery
Deliver monthly reporting to key stakeholders including QRA and internal project leads
Assist with claims, capitalisation, and asset componentisation at project close
Champion collaboration, accountability, and process improvement
What you'll need to succeed
Degree-qualified accountant with project experience
Experience with TechOne is a strong advantage
Solid grounding in cost accounting, activity-based costing, and applying accounting standards in grant-funded environments
Strong analytical mindset and confident communication skills
Highly organised, self-driven, and able to manage competing priorities
