The Finance Officer plays a critical role in supporting the financial operations of the department. This position is responsible for managing key finance functions including procure-to-pay processes, banking, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams to ensure compliance with government financial policies and procedures.
Your new role
Coordinate the end-to-end procure-to-pay process, ensuring timely and accurate invoice payments and maintaining financial data in SAP.
Assist in reviewing, enhancing, and implementing procurement procedures, including compliance monitoring and staff training.
Manage daily banking activities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to financial protocols.
Monitor corporate credit card transactions and support reporting and general ledger coding.
:Analyse financial transactions and general ledger data to ensure accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding invoicing, payments, and procurement processes, including financial account code allocation.
Prepare and analyse financial data to support internal and external audit processes.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams and external partners.
Manage petty cash processes, including reconciliation and reimbursement.
Prepare accounts payable and other finance-related reconciliations as required.
Contribute to month-end financial reporting and reconciliation tasks.
Participate in the development of business plans, policies, procedures, process documentation, and intranet content.
Provide training and guidance to staff on financial processes and responsibilities.
Perform other duties as required to support the finance team and departmental objectives.
What you'll need to succeed
- Demonstrated experience in finance or accounting within a complex organisation.
- Proficiency in SAP or similar financial management systems.
- Strong understanding of government financial policies and procedures.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
