We are partnering with a government organisation to recruit a short-term VPS4.1.1 Facilities Coordinator. This role provides essential operational support across two CBD sites during a period of leave coverage. The assignment runs from Thursday 19 March through to Tuesday 7 April, 12 working days, and reports directly to the senior Facilities Manager.
Your new role
You will support the continuous operation and readiness of two busy government facilities, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient environments for staff and visitors. Responsibilities include:
• Delivering end-to-end facility services to ensure buildings are ready for daily operational needs, including scheduled activities and events
• Performing minor repairs and essential maintenance tasks, and coordinating furniture setups, stationery and courier related requirements
• Inducting, coordinating and supervising external contractors with a strong focus on site safety, quality assurance and verification of works
• Conducting regular inspections of facilities and equipment and responding to urgent maintenance requests as they arise
• Supporting office relocations and coordinating movement of equipment and furniture based on operational priorities
• Managing enquiries from internal stakeholders and providing guidance aligned with policies, procedures and operational standards
• Maintaining accurate records, certificates of completion and updates through internal systems including CAIMS
• Promoting strong health and safety practices to support efficient and compliant operations
• Responding to technical requests such as temperature adjustments through BMS controls, minor electrical issues, plumbing, vertical transport and security matters
• Participating in emergency response activities including fire alarms and access control system issues and ensuring evacuation plans remain up to date
• Ensuring cleaning services, including COVID response needs, support operational requirements across all sites
• Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, ensuring timely communication, issue resolution and escalation where required
What you'll need to succeed
You bring strong technical and organisational capability and can contribute immediately in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Demonstrated organisational and technical FM skills, including the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines while balancing competing demands
• Ability to work with stakeholders to assess issues, develop solutions and negotiate positive outcomes
• Proficiency in relevant computer systems and software for maintenance coordination and reporting
• Knowledge of Essential Safety Measures, the Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards for facility compliance or the ability to source this information when required
• Experience within court, tribunal, public sector or similar environments is highly desirable.
