Your new company
You will join an organisation that is establishing its first Enterprise Architecture function and is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to lead this next stage of ICT maturity.
This is not a replacement role. This is a rare opportunity to build a capability from the ground up, influence enterprise-wide technology decisions, and help guide investment, governance and strategic direction across a complex organisation supporting schools, students and communities throughout the Canberra region.
Your new role
Major platforms are in place. Cloud adoption has accelerated. The ICT function has expanded in both scope and capability.
The next phase is about bringing greater alignment, governance and long-term thinking to technology investment and delivery. The foundations already exist, including an Enterprise Architecture Charter, Architecture Principles and an Architecture Review Board framework. Your role is to bring these to life and establish Enterprise Architecture as a trusted business capability.
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, you will work across ICT and business leadership to:
Establish and lead the Enterprise Architecture function
Activate and mature architecture governance practices
Guide technology and investment decisions across the organisation
Chair or facilitate enterprise architecture review processes
Build trusted relationships with executives, school leaders and ICT teams
Develop enterprise-wide architectural thinking and decision-making
Identify opportunities to improve alignment across systems, platforms and services
Provide strategic advice on technology direction and investment priorities
What you'll need to succeed
You are a senior technology leader who understands that successful architecture is built as much on relationships and influence as it is on technical expertise. You may already be an Enterprise Architect, Head of Architecture, Chief Architect or senior architecture leader looking for an opportunity where you can have genuine organisational impact.
You will bring:
Experience leading Enterprise Architecture within a complex organisation
A track record of establishing or maturing architectural governance practices
Experience influencing executive stakeholders without direct authority
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts in plain language
Demonstrated success building stakeholder trust across technical and non-technical groups
Experience supporting technology investment and strategic planning decisions
Highly regarded:
Experience building an Enterprise Architecture capability from scratch
Education, government or not-for-profit sector experience
TOGAF or equivalent Enterprise Architecture certification
Experience operating in complex, multi-site environments
What you'll get in return
Most Enterprise Architecture opportunities involve maintaining an established function.
This role offers something different.
You will join an organisation where executive support already exists, governance foundations are in place, and there is a genuine commitment to enterprise-wide thinking. You will have the opportunity to shape how technology decisions are made, influence strategic investment priorities, and establish a function that will have a lasting impact across the organisation.
