Your new role

Working with this established client, you have a unique opportunity to directly contribute to Australian Sovereign capability, coming in at the start, to see through this landmark project to completion. You will be with the foundation team, where everyday will not be the same, and you will get to work on being part of something truly ground-breaking.
Duties will include but not limited to:
· Deliver on the design, development, and implementation of engineering solutions
· Provide strategic direction and technical leadership for engineering
· Manage, mentor, and develop the more junior engineering staff and interns, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
· Develop SOPs and operating guides as you go, as well as overseeing the creation and maintenance of technical documentation
· Regularly preparing and presenting reports on project status and technical performance
What you'll need to succeed

Demonstrated experience within a defence project environment and uncrewed aircraft systems will be highly regarded.
· The ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated hands-on track record of completing innovative projects, high levels of self-motivation, technical expertise in aircraft/UAV system development
· Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (e.g., Aerospace, Mechanical, Robotics/Mechatronics, Electrical) or a closely related field.
· Experience and traits: Strong professional experience in engineering role(s) within the aviation or UAS/drone industry (or closely related field like robotics or EVs), preferably working with direct reports and as part of a systems-focused team.
· Proven track record of successful project completions (start to finish) and comfort with fast-paced technical innovation.
· Clear evidence of ownership, problem-solving skills, and effective team collaboration and cooperation
· Evidence of good interpersonal skills, helping a team pull in the same direction through your direct actions and approaches to situations.
· Proficiency with industry-standard engineering software and tools – we like to know what you did, not just a list of package names.
· Able to clearly think problems through from first principles – what is a time where you had to rethink entirely how something was done?
· Motivation and ability to work in a startup environment rather than a large structured hierarchy
· Knowledge of UAS regulatory environment
N.B. You will be required to work in the office 5 days a week due to the nature of the project.
