Hays is recruiting for experienced Electricians to join a high-performing team working on large-scale marine infrastructure projects. This role involves hands-on work both onboard vessels and within a specialised electrical workshop environment.
Your new role
As an Electrician, you’ll be responsible for the safe and compliant execution of electrical work across a variety of marine settings. You’ll collaborate with engineers, technicians, and project teams to deliver high-quality outcomes in line with Australian standards and defence protocols.
Key Responsibilities
• Install, terminate, and test fixed wiring and earthing systems onboard vessels
• Run and secure cable support systems across naval and commercial platforms
• Assemble and repair electrical components including junction boxes and relay panels
• Use multimeters, megger testers, and other diagnostic tools to ensure compliance
• Interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and quality documentation
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace in line with WHS and ISO 45001 standards
• Support broader workshop operations and assist with project delivery as required
What you'll need to succeed
• Australian-recognised Electrical Trade Certificate
• Current White Card and Electrical Licence (Qualified Supervisor Certificate)
• Ability to pass a Federal Police Check and obtain Defence Security Clearance
• Strong understanding of AS/NZS 3000:2018 and marine electrical standards
• Experience in ship repair or marine environments highly regarded
• Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, safety-first mindset
