A leading federal government agency is seeking a highly capable and strategic individual to lead its finance team. This senior role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial operations, ensuring compliance, and delivering best-practice financial services across the organisation.

Your new role

Reporting to the Head of Finance, this is a key role in the finance function.

• Manage the agency’s financial operations, including internal controls, monthly reporting, and preparation of annual financial statements.
• Ensure high-quality service delivery in areas such as debtor collection, tax returns (GST and FBT), asset and cash flow management, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Provide support to internal and external auditors.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of the Financial Management Information System.
• Support strategic financial planning, including the development of annual budget statements and cash flow projections.
• Monitor changes in government financial policy and provide high-level advice to senior executives.

What you'll need to succeed

• Must be an Australian citizen and able to obtain and maintain a national security clearance.
• CA/CPA qualification
• Extensive experience managing finance functions within the public sector, ideally the commonwealth government
• Capable of fostering a high-performance culture and motivating teams
