• Concept Design Development: Lead the development of creative concept designs, guiding the team through to construction documentation while ensuring alignment with client expectations.
• Project Management: Manage your own projects and collaborate with the team, overseeing multiple initiatives to meet deadlines and deliver exceptional results.
• Product Development Involvement: Contribute to the development and refinement of furniture and workspace solutions, working cross-functionally to align design with product innovation.
• Client Engagement: Interact directly with clients to gather briefs, understand their needs, and present tailored design solutions that exceed expectations.
• Communication and Presentation: Deliver compelling presentations and maintain excellent communication with clients and team members throughout the project lifecycle.
• Research: Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies to inform design choices and recommendations.
• Workplace Strategy Contribution: Leverage local market knowledge to inform design decisions and contribute to workplace strategy development, fostering a collaborative approach.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers, fostering their professional development and enhancing team performance.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct site visits to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.

What you'll need to succeed

• 8+ years of experience in a similar leadership role; experience in commercial and workplace fit-outs
• Tertiary qualifications in Interior Design or a related field – Highly regarded
• Proven track record in managing commercial fit-out projects
• Local Australian experience, with knowledge of the regional market and trends
• Experience leading projects and managing teams from inception to completion
• Proficiency in design software AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite and Revit
• Growth mindset, with a desire to develop professionally
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
• Good delegator, able to effectively assign tasks and responsibilities within the team.
• Personable, with strong interpersonal skills that foster positive client and team relationships
