Design Manager

Our client is a well-established construction company with an excellent reputation for completing high-quality work, primarily in the commercial fitout sector but also on new-build projects within education and commercial.

Your new role
You will be responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of the design process across all projects, ensuring the seamless integration of design concepts with construction execution. You will oversee a highly competent team whilst collaborating with other departments, including engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure that all designs are both functional and compliant with industry standards.

This role requires excellent technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to manage design teams efficiently.
Lead and manage the technical design process for interior fit-out projects, ensuring that all designs meet both client expectations and building regulations.
Liaise with clients, project managers, architects, consultants, and engineers to develop and implement designs that are cost-effective, innovative, and technically feasible.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you will need extensive experience across the commercial fitout space and have a history of leading technical design teams, preferably within a construction setting.

You will also demonstrate the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture
  • Strong knowledge of interior fit-out processes, materials, and construction methods
  • An in-depth understanding of Australian building codes, standards, and health and safety
  • Excellent communications skills
  • A solutions-focused attitude whilst fostering a hardworking and positive culture
