An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager / Project Manager to join a progressive NSW local council on a 12-month contract. This role sits within a high-performing capital works team delivering a diverse portfolio of community infrastructure projects across a growing region.

Your new role

This role is design-led, requiring strong experience managing design processes, consultants, and project governance, while also overseeing delivery outcomes.

Lead and manage the design development process across multiple projects
Coordinate and manage external consultants through all design stages
Ensure design outputs align with project scope, compliance, and delivery requirements
Support project delivery from feasibility through to construction
Manage budgets, programs, and procurement processes (EOIs, RFQs, tenders)
Oversee contractors and review variations/claims
Monitor performance across cost, time, and quality
Provide clear reporting to internal stakeholders

What you'll need to succeed

Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Project Management, or similar
Strong experience in design management within a client-side or PM consultancy environment
Demonstrated ability to bridge design and delivery (not purely architectural design)
Proven experience managing multiple concurrent projects
Background in local government, developer, or consultancy settings highly regarded
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
