Your new role:
As a Sales Department Manager (Shopkeeper), you will lead one of IKEA’s home furnishing departments, driving commercial performance, and delivering an exceptional shopping experience. You will be responsible for optimising sales and profitability, mentoring your team, and ensuring the department is visually inspiring and customer-friendly.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Optimising the sales and profitability of your department by taking full ownership of the range and activating IKEA’s commercial priorities.
  • Developing deep product knowledge and understanding customer needs, market trends, and acting quickly on commercial opportunities and feedback.
  • Working side by side with your team on the shop floor—mentoring, coaching, and building competence while supporting succession planning and development.
  • Embedding the IKEA Concept and maintaining highly commercial, inspiring, and visually appealing departments.
  • Connecting wider IKEA strategies to your team’s contribution, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Managing accurate range forecasting, sales steering, and adjusting plans to meet volume commitments.
  • Ensuring the department is fully staffed with competent co-workers who are available to serve and support customers.
  • Maintaining a shop that is always in excellent condition—fully stocked, well-merchandised, and inspiring.
  • Equipping your team with product and service knowledge to enhance the customer experience.
  • Monitoring competitors and sharing insights with relevant stakeholders.
  • Promoting IKEA’s social and environmental commitments within your team.
What you'll need to succeed:
To be considered for this role, you will need:
  • A minimum of three years of leadership experience in a high-volume commercial environment (e.g., Department Manager, Store Manager, Key Account Manager, B2B/B2C Sales Leader).
  • A proven track record of achieving sales and profitability targets.
  • Experience in building high-performing teams, leading performance, development, and securing succession.
  • Experience delivering commercial activity plans and sustaining long-term growth in an omnichannel retail landscape.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and influence across functions and communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Adaptability and experience in leading and embedding change.
  • Inclusive and inspiring communication style, with the ability to influence through knowledge and perspective.
  • Senior-level leadership capability, with a focus on flexibility, simplicity, and speed.
  • Experience in delivering and implementing short- and long-term action plans, consistently reaching performance goals.
