As a Data Scientist, you will work closely with technical and operational stakeholders to design, develop and deliver robust decision‑support solutions. You will help translate complex operational challenges into scalable analytical models that drive improvements in safety, productivity and cost performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Framing analytical problems in collaboration with operational stakeholders
Designing and developing models across planning, scheduling and operational systems
Applying optimisation techniques (linear & mixed‑integer programming, heuristics), simulation, machine learning and statistical methods
Building, deploying and supporting production‑ready analytical models and pipelines
Working with engineering and data teams to integrate models into systems and digital products
Monitoring deployed models for performance, stability and data quality
Contributing to broader analytics initiatives, standards and best practices
Building trusted relationships across technical and non‑technical teams
What you'll need to succeed
Proven experience applying data science, optimisation or advanced analytics to real‑world operational problems
Strong Python programming skills and experience writing maintainable, production‑quality code
Demonstrated experience deploying analytical or ML models into operational environments
Experience collaborating with stakeholders to define assumptions, constraints and value outcomes
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and cloud‑based data services
Understanding of model life cycle management, including deployment, monitoring and ongoing support
Experience in mining, resources, supply chain or industrial operations (highly regarded)
Familiarity with scheduling, planning systems, simulation or large‑scale optimisation
Tertiary qualifications in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science or similar
