Your new role
You will be managing and optimising Microsoft Fabric environment, ensuring the integrity, performance, and scalability of the data platform. You will be responsible for updating maintaining and evolving our Fabric data architecture, including the Bronze, Silver and Gold data layers and supporting the delivery of high-quality data and analytics products and insights across the organisation.
In this role you will,
- Administer and manage the Microsoft Fabric environment, including configuration, monitoring, and performance tuning.
- Maintain data pipelines and workflows using Fabric components such as Dataflows, Pipelines, and Lakehouses.
- Maintain the Bronze (raw), Silver (cleansed), and Gold (curated) data layers to update, maintain and support analytics and reporting needs.
- Working closely with the Data Analytics Infrastructure lead and the CMS program technical team members in developing and enhancing the analytical layer of Fabric to meet the ever-evolving needs of the business.
- Collaborate with data analysts, business stakeholders, and IT teams to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
- Ensure data quality, security, and governance standards are upheld across the data platform.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data ingestion, data security, transformation, and integration processes.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering, Microsoft Fabric, and cloud-based analytics.
- Contribute to the development of data architecture standards, governance, documentation, and reusable frameworks.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other team members as required.
What you'll need to succeed
- Minimum 4 years of experience in data engineering or analytics roles, preferably within the public sector or large enterprise environments.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and developing solutions within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem including components like Dataflows, Pipelines, and Lakehouses.
- Strong proficiency in data engineering tools and languages such as SQL, DAX, Power Query, and Python.
- Experience with data lakehouse architecture and managing multi-layered data models (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and related technologies.
- Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance in a government or regulated environment.
- Proven ability to analyse complex data problems and design effective, scalable solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality.
- Microsoft certifications in Azure or Fabric technologies (desirable).
