Your new role

• Administer and manage the Microsoft Fabric environment, including configuration, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Maintain data pipelines and workflows using Fabric components such as Dataflows, Pipelines, and Lakehouses.
• Maintain the Bronze (raw), Silver (cleansed), and Gold (curated) data layers to update, maintain and support analytics and reporting needs.
• Working closely with the Data Analytics Infrastructure lead and the CMS program technical team members in developing and enhancing the analytical layer of Fabric to meet the ever-evolving needs of the business.
• Collaborate with data analysts, business stakeholders, and IT teams to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
• Ensure data quality, security, and governance standards are upheld across the data platform.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data ingestion, data security, transformation, and integration processes.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering, Microsoft Fabric, and cloud-based analytics.
• Contribute to the development of data architecture standards, governance, documentation, and reusable frameworks.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other team members as required.

What you'll need to succeed

• Minimum 4 years of experience in data engineering or analytics roles, preferably within the public sector or large enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated experience in managing and developing solutions within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem including components like Dataflows, Pipelines, and Lakehouses.
• Strong proficiency in data engineering tools and languages such as SQL, DAX, Power Query, and Python.
• Experience with data lakehouse architecture and managing multi-layered data models (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and related technologies.
• Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance in a government or regulated environment.
• Proven ability to analyse complex data problems and design effective, scalable solutions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality.
• Microsoft certifications in Azure or Fabric technologies (desirable).
