About the Organisation
A NSW Government agency has recently undergone a substantial period of organisational growth and structural change. With operations now stabilising, the organisation is focusing on strengthening processes, improving efficiency, and realigning teams under a newly endorsed five-year strategic plan.
Several transformation streams are underway, including reporting realignments and organisation‑wide process improvement initiatives.
Evidence‑based decision‑making and enhanced reporting capability are critical to ensuring continuity and consistent performance across the new structure.
About the Role
A Data Analyst is required to support two major transformation streams centred on process mapping, process improvement, and organisational effectiveness.
You will work closely with Business Analysts to interrogate existing datasets, develop improvement metrics, and provide insights that strengthen and validate recommendations for structural and process changes. In addition, you will collaborate with the Business Intelligence team to modify and enhance existing Power BI reports to align with the new organisational structure.
The organisation already has a solid reporting foundation. Your work will focus on refinement, optimisation, and insight generation rather than greenfield development.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver data analysis, insights, and visualisations to support system and structural changes.
Identify inefficiencies across processes and quantify opportunities for improvement.
Assist in defining, developing, and tracking performance metrics aligned to strategic objectives.
Partner with Business Analysts to provide evidence that strengthens recommendations for change.
Update, refine, and enhance existing Power BI reports to reflect new reporting lines and organisational structures.
Present complex data findings in a clear, concise, and meaningful way to non-technical stakeholders.
Support process mapping and business continuity assessment by providing accurate, relevant datasets.
Maintain high standards of data quality, accuracy, and consistency across all reporting outputs.
Skills and Experience
Demonstrated experience as a Data Analyst or Reporting Analyst in a complex environment.
Hands-on experience with Power BI, including report development, enhancement, and modification.
Strong understanding of data modelling and visualisation principles; DAX skills advantageous.
Experience analysing and interpreting datasets to generate meaningful insights.
Previous experience supporting transformation, process improvement, or organisational change programs.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate data into practical recommendations.
