Hays is partnering with a well-regarded metropolitan council seeking a Development Assessment Planner to join their team on an initial 3-month contract, with the potential for extension based on business requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative planning team managing a diverse portfolio of development applications across residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
Your new role
Assessing a broad range of development applications and modification applications.
Preparing assessment reports and recommendations in accordance with relevant legislation and policy.
Providing planning advice to applicants, consultants and internal stakeholders.
Participating in pre-lodgement meetings and responding to planning enquiries.
Liaising with engineers, environmental health officers and other specialist staff to ensure timely outcomes.
Attending internal meetings and contributing to efficient development assessment processes.
What you'll need to succeed
Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Urban Planning or a related discipline.
Previous Development Assessment experience within a NSW local council environment.
Strong working knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act.
Experience interpreting LEPs, DCPs and relevant planning legislation.
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear and concise assessment reports.
Strong stakeholder engagement and customer service skills.
