Contracts Administrator/Junior Project Manager

Excellent long-term Public Sector opportunity for a building services experienced CA/Junior PM

Covering some of the City’s most amazing building and infrastructure assets this busy custodian organisation requires additional expertise for their Capital Works (principally building projects) programme. Based in the CBD you will report to the Senior Project Manager and act as the client’s representative in the upgrade and delivery of community building projects to completion.

You are a dynamic Contract Administrator / Assistant Project Manager with proven experience in preparing high quality RFQ & RFT documents for specialist consultants and contractors. You will be required to use the established procurement processes and have excellent written skills ensuring clear scopes of works are documented and provided to the market. After the engagement of the consultants and or contractors you will be required to administer the contract including processing payment claims.

Experience in the use of MS Project and upgrading and asset renewal of property assets such as lifts, mechanical, electrical, fire and hydraulic services works would be highly desirable.

You will:

  • Manage the day to day project delivery to meet time, cost, quality, safety and environmental expectations.
  • Assess risks and support in the preparation of mitigation plans
  • Prepare Project Plans and tender documentation
  • Administer contracts, including evaluation of progress claims, variation claims, extension of time claims, and performance monitoring
  • Investigate compliance conditions with all relevant authorities to avoid any delays to projects
  • Inspect works in the field to ensure that the desired intentions and quality are being achieved.
  • Prepare and issue timely documentation to enable proactive project reviews, including preparation of regular cost reports, project status updates, construction photographs and compliance reporting
  • Apply and uphold to a high level the project management and governance process

You will have relevant qualifications (quantity surveying, engineering, building etc) and a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in contracts administration on building services construction & upgrade projects. Your highly developed contractual knowledge and ability to effectively coordinate contract disputes with the main contractor will be held in high regard. You will be required to work with project management and document management systems, such as TRIM, Finance One, Microsoft Project and have a working knowledge of Acconex.


This role is a contract position paying very good rates of $600-800/hr + Super for a 40 hour working week. Initially it is for a 12 month contract but will very likely be extended due to a large ongoing workload and possibly be converted to a permanent engagement. This role is only open to candidates with full working rights in Australia.
