Hays are partnered with a large state government department in Bunbury, who are looking for Construction Road Workers to assist with road construction and maintenance activities across the South West Region.
Your new role
You will support road crews with general labour, on-site construction activities and operational works required to deliver programmed jobs safely and efficiently.
Duties may include:
- Site set-up and pack-up
- Excavation & trenching
- Kerbing
- Backfilling and compaction
- Assisting with asphalt, spray seal, concrete, kerb and gutter works
- Drainage works.
- Installation of roadside infrastructure
- Operation of plant and tools where appropriately licenced and trained.
- Loading and unloading of materials
- General site-clean up, spoil removal
- Basic equipment maintenance, and other construction or roadside maintenance tasks as directed.
The role is field-based and may require travel within the WA Southwest Region
What you'll need to succeed
- Demonstrated experience in civil construction, road construction, roadside maintenance, labouring, or similar field-based construction work.
- Current HR licence, tickets, or competencies relevant to civil construction, plant, operation, traffic management, or roadside workers.
- Ability to undertake physically demanding outdoor work, follow directions, work effectively as part of a construction crew, and safely use hand tools, small plant and equipment where appropriately trained and licenced.
DESIRABLE:
- Experience assisting with asphalt, spray seal, concrete kerbing, drainage, compaction or general road construction activities.
- Ability to work safely in a live road environment and comply with workplace health and safety requirements, site inductions, traffic management controls whilst following standard company procedures.
Candidates must hold, & be able to provide evidence of, the following
- Current HR Driver’s Licence.
- Construction Induction Card / White Card.
- National Police Clearance.
- Medical / fitness for work clearance in accordance with company requirements.
What you'll get in return
The role is being offered on an initial 6-month temporary contract to start on the 6th July 2026 (estimated). You will also be offered:
- 40 hours – Monday to Friday
- Weekly pay structure
- Construction crew working hours are expected to be between 6:30am and 5:00pm, subject to site requirements, location, weather, traffic management arrangements and programmed construction activities.
- Some overtime may be required up to 10 hours per week.
- Allowances available for travel, meals and accommodation when occasional overnight stays are required.
