Your new role
Working in the Bushland & Foreshore team, the role of the Conservation Officer is to contribute to the enhancement of the council’s significant bushland and foreshore natural reserve areas (bushland, grasslands, creeks and wetlands) by ensuring they are maintained and developed to a high standard. You’ll:
- Carry out site assessments, site mapping, integrated weed control, revegetation, and minor infrastructure/landscaping maintenance
- Supervise “Friends of” groups, school groups and other community groups undertaking maintenance and development tasks of foreshore reserves
- Take direction from Bushland and Foreshore Crew Leader to ensure programmed works and reactive customer requests are completed and reported on promptly.
- Take responsibility for ensuring the council’s bushland and foreshore areas are clean, safe and welcoming
What you'll need to succeed
The following qualifications and experience would be ideal for the position:
- Qualification and/or demonstrated experience in Conservation and Ecosystem Management
- Experience with Native plant identification and Ecological Vegetation Classes, Chemical Users Certificate/Herbicide Applicators Licence
- Current Victorian Driver’s licence
- Chainsaw ticket level 1
