A highly sought-after South Australian Government department is seeking a Communications Advisor to join their team. This 3-month contract is available for an immediate start, with the possibility of extension.
Your new role
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and driven communications professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and taking ownership of their work. You will support a range of external communication activities including media and stakeholder engagement, website and social media content, and campaign delivery.
Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will plan, produce, and distribute engaging content that aligns with departmental objectives and public messaging priorities. This role will suit someone who can quickly absorb information, respond to changing priorities, and confidently deliver high-quality work with minimal supervision.
The team is looking for someone who is eager to learn, embraces new challenges, and thrives in an environment where no two days are the same. Strong writing skills, initiative, and the ability to take a brief and run with it will be key to your success.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience in Government or a large, complex organisation is essential
- Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality content across multiple channels
- A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the confidence to work independently and take ownership of deliverables
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and adapt quickly to changing demands
- Strong judgement and initiative, with the ability to take feedback on board and quickly apply it to future work
- Experience in external communications, stakeholder engagement, media relations, digital communications, or campaign delivery
- A willingness to learn, grow, and contribute positively to a collaborative team environment
- Immediate availability for the duration of the contract
- A current DHS WWCC and willingness for Hays to undertake an NPC (successful candidate only)
