We have partnered exclusively with a client in the gas space. We are working with them to find a strategic and commercially astute Commercial Manager to lead their portfolio and drive high-impact commercial initiatives. This Sydney-based energy company is a key contributor to the gas market, with a strong focus on exploration, production, and infrastructure revitalisation. The company is strategically positioned to support Australia’s transition to a net-zero future.

Your new role

The Commercial Manager plays a key role in supporting the company’s commercial and portfolio operations. This position is responsible for managing the company’s portfolio, coordinating contractual obligations, supporting business development initiatives, and conducting financial and commercial analysis.

  • Building and maintaining financial models
  • Providing insights for strategic decisions
  • Assisting with capital raising
  • Daily gas nominations aligned with production
  • Monitoring pipeline imbalances
  • Liaising with Production/Operations teams
  • Negotiating sales/purchase agreements
  • Regulatory reporting to AEMO and ACCC
  • Understanding and monitoring commercial agreements
  • Ensuring timely actions per contract terms
  • Supporting business initiatives (scoping, research, due diligence)
  • Preparing commercial materials and analysis
  • Managing third-party relationships

What you'll need to succeed

  • Deep knowledge of the gas market
  • Experience in portfolio management
  • Strong financial modelling skills (debt/equity)
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and communicative
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Tertiary qualifications in commerce, finance, engineering, or science
  • Commercial experience in the gas, energy or mining industry
