Your new role
As a Level 2 Solicitor in the Corporate Legal team, you will navigate a wide range of commercial legal matters, focusing on procurement contracts and strategic advisory work. You will play a critical role in ensuring that the organization’s operations are legally sound and aligned with its strategic objectives, contributing to policy development and governance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:- Draft, review, and negotiate procurement and commercial contracts across IT and other corporate services.
- Provide practical and strategic legal advice that supports organisational goals while addressing commercial realities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify and manage legal risks, ensuring compliance with procurement regulations.
- Work within a team of seven corporate solicitors, reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Legal.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of policies and governance frameworks to promote operational success.
What you'll need to succeed
To thrive in this role, you’ll need a strong foundation in commercial legal practice, particularly in procurement and corporate governance. You will have the ability to independently handle complex legal matters while delivering pragmatic advice that supports the organization’s strategic direction.
Key Requirements:- 3-5 years of post-admission commercial legal experience, particularly in procurement, corporate governance, or contract law.
- Proven ability to manage complex legal matters with minimal supervision.
- Experience with public sector or Victorian government procurement frameworks (highly desirable).
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- A current Australian practicing certificate.
