This organisation operates within the Food & Grocery / FMCG sector and supports a large Queensland‑based distribution and retail network. The Queensland operation is a high‑revenue, high‑volume business, playing a critical role in pricing, promotions and commercial performance across the state. Based in the southside of Brisbane, the site works closely with interstate head‑office support functions, while retaining strong local accountability for commercial outcomes. You will join a lean, highly engaged state commercial team, working closely with senior stakeholders to support day‑to‑day decision‑making and longer‑term performance initiatives. This role has been newly created, offering an initial 3 month temporary contract, with a clear intention to convert to a permanent Commercial Analyst position, subject to performance and internal approvals. This opportunity is ideal for a commercially minded finance professional who is immediately available, confident engaging with the business and looking to build long‑term experience in a complex, fast‑moving environment.
Your new role
Working as part of a small, close‑knit commercial team, you will partner closely with operations, logistics and sales to deliver insights that drive performance. Due to the short initial contract, strong communication and presentation capability will be essential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing commercial analysis and insights to support state decision‑making
- Building and delivering management presentations and performance summaries
- Supporting pricing, promotions and customer performance analysis
- Assisting with customer onboarding, credit risk monitoring and governance
- Partnering with non‑finance stakeholders to explain results and recommendations
- Using D365, Excel and Power BI to analyse data and maintain reporting tools
- Supporting continuous improvement across processes and reporting
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- CA / CPA / CIMA qualified or currently studying
- Around 2+ years’ experience in finance, commercial analysis or FMCG environments
- Strong Excel capability and confidence building PowerPoint presentations
- Experience working with Power BI and D365 (or similar ERP systems)
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with short onboarding
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Overseas experience is welcomed and considered
