Commercial Analyst

Our client is looking for a Commercial Analyst to join their team on a 9-month basis.
Our client, a retail company, is looking for a Commercial Analyst to join their team on a 9-month basis. There is a possibility of extension or permanency with this role for the right candidate. The office is based in Surry Hills and hybrid working is available.


Daily rate – $500-530 per day + super, dependent on experience


Responsibilities

  • Analyse promotional activities to optimise return on investment and assess new investment opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities for gross margin improvement and cost reduction, including product lifecycle and rationalisation analysis.
  • Prepare financial models and strategic analysis to support long-term planning and decision-making.
  • Deliver accurate business performance reports and commentary, including month-end tasks and reconciliations.
  • Lead Onestream implementation and manage monthly data uploads.
  • Provide data-driven insights to support strategic decisions across sales, marketing, and product development.
  • Develop pricing models and analyse product range rationalisation aligned with business strategy.
  • Participate in budgeting, rolling forecasts, and strategic financial planning activities.
  • Analyse pharmacy performance, promotional effectiveness, rebate systems, and income streams to drive profitability.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to streamline processes, enhance controls, and reduce manual interventions.


Requirements

  • Must be available to start immediately
  • Demonstrated strong commercial acumen and ability to influence stakeholders effectively.
  • Experience working in large FMCG, retail, or pharmaceutical industries is highly regarded.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and communicate across all organisational levels.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and handling large data sets.
  • Skilled in using large ERP systems and BI tools.
  • Ability to deliver analytical insights that add strategic value.
  • Understanding of the operations and governance of an ASX-listed company.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
