Hays are currently recruiting a Civil Estimator who has experience in Piling. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to work on large scale projects for Tier 1 suppliers, including John Holland, CPB and Laing O'Rourke.

Your new company

This organisation is part of a global group that has many companies around the world, including in France. This role will be based south of the river, near Cannington in Perth, WA. Alternatively, if you are in Brisbane, you can work within their office in that location.

Your new role

As an estimator, you will specialise in the piling estimation of each project, calculating and reporting.

This role is critical in preparing accurate and competitive tenders for piling and ground engineering works, primarily subcontracted to Tier 1 builders.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of geotechnical construction methods, cost estimation, and client liaison.

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for piling and ground engineering projects.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
• Conduct site visits and assessments to inform estimation.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure alignment between design and cost.
• Maintain and update cost databases and estimation tools.
• Participate in tender reviews and negotiations with Tier 1 clients.
• Monitor market trends and competitor pricing strategies.

What you'll need to succeed

• Proven experience in civil estimating, ideally within piling or ground engineering.
• Strong understanding of geotechnical construction techniques (e.g., CFA, bored piles, diaphragm walls, ground anchors).
• Experience working with Tier 1 contractors and understanding of their tendering processes.
• Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Expert Estimation, Candy, or similar).
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
