Our client is a proud, locally owned construction company with a rich history dating back to 1983. Over the decades, they've evolved into a dynamic, award-winning team known for delivering high-quality projects throughout Mackay and the surrounding regions. As part of their continued growth, they recently launched a Civil division of the business focused on delivering civil construction projects across the region. With a strong pipeline of exciting work ahead, we're looking for a motivated and experienced Civil Operator / Leading Hand to join their expanding team.
Your new role
Operate a range of machinery if ticketed, including excavators, graders, loaders, rollers, posi tracks, and trucks
Provide leadership and support for civil works in the absence of the Civil Project Manager
Perform daily pre-start inspections and promptly report any maintenance concerns
Apply and oversee quality control procedures to ensure project standards are met
Maintain plant and equipment to a high standard, including regular cleaning and upkeep
Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental regulations and policies
Accurately complete daily documentation and reporting to support project tracking
Proactively identify site challenges and contribute practical, effective solutions
What you'll need to succeed
Demonstrated hands-on experience in civil construction operations
HR (Heavy Rigid) licence is required
Ability to confidently read and interpret construction plans and technical drawings
Solid understanding of civil construction techniques, processes, and materials
Strong communication and team leadership capabilities
High attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills
Reliable, well-organised, and able to perform effectively under pressure
Competent in using relevant tools and basic digital reporting systems
Construction white card
Must live locally in Mackay and have contactable references
