Our client is a civil and structural engineering, development, and project management consultancy with a strong presence across Queensland and Papua New Guinea. With a dedicated team of professionals in Cairns, Normanton, and PNG, the firm is committed to delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions while fostering a collaborative, growth-focused team environment. They are currently seeking a highly experienced and committed Civil Engineer to join their Normanton team. This is a residential role in Normanton; relocation and accommodation to be discussed in the package.
Your new role
As a Civil Engineer, you will play a crucial role in managing and delivering engineering projects from inception to completion. Reporting to the Principal (RPEQ) Engineer, you will provide technical design support, site supervision, and project management expertise across various infrastructure developments. Your responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking project tasks as defined by the Principal Engineer.
- Preparing engineering designs, estimates, and bills of quantity aligned with project specifications.
- Monitoring project performance, including man-hour tracking, progress assessments, and commissioned fees.
- Conducting site inspections and acting as the site engineer during construction phases.
- Ensuring project deliverables are met within time and budget constraints.
- Providing regular reports to the Principal Engineer on project progress, cost, and outcomes.
- Working towards Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) membership for continued career progression.
- Adhering to Quality Management System.
What you'll need to succeed
- A strong background in civil engineering with a tertiary qualification and proven experience in project management. (Geotechnical experience desirable)
- Experience working in a consultancy environment
- Proficiency in engineering design and documentation, including cost estimations and technical reporting.
- Experience in site inspections and construction supervision.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to monitor project performance and efficiency.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, ensuring collaboration with engineers, contractors, and stakeholders.
- A proactive and self-driven approach to problem-solving and project execution.
- RPEQ highly desired or commitment to professional development, including working towards RPEQ membership.
