Your new role
Developing, implementing, monitoring and reviewing budget allocation models and processes in line with endorsed strategies
Undertaking detailed cost, resource and scenario modelling, trend analysis and performance reporting
Managing a portfolio of internal stakeholders, providing expert advice on budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and resource planning
Coordinating and contributing to annual budget submissions, mid‑year reviews, budget statements and estimates processes
Preparing and presenting periodic and ad hoc financial and management reports to senior leaders and government stakeholders
Undertaking monthly variance analysis, identifying financial risks and implementing mitigation strategies
Maintaining robust financial control frameworks in compliance with legislative and policy requirements
What you'll need to succeed
Demonstrated experience in a financial environment, including budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and management reporting
Proven ability to extract, analyse and interpret complex financial and statistical datasets, with advanced spreadsheet and data visualisation skills
Highly developed analytical, conceptual and problem‑solving skills, with a proactive and solutions‑focused approach
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage, advise and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels.
Excellent planning, time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
A sound understanding of public sector financial legislation, including financial management acts, regulations and treasurer’s instructions
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
