Your new role
As a BESS Engineer (C&I), you will be instrumental in the design, implementation, and management of cutting-edge energy storage projects. Working closely with EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, and key stakeholders, you will ensure seamless project execution while optimising system performance.
Success in this role requires strong technical expertise and exceptional communication skills to foster productive relationships across a diverse network of stakeholders, driving innovation and efficiency in BESS deployment.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing and specifying BESS solutions, including system sizing, architecture, and integration with solar PV or grid infrastructure.
- Conducting technical feasibility studies and energy simulations using tools such as HOMER, PVSyst, and MATLAB/Simulink.
- Developing detailed engineering drawings and documentation for project planning.
- Coordinating with EPC contractors, suppliers, and utility providers to streamline project development.
- Overseeing installation, commissioning, and performance validation of BESS projects.
- Ensuring compliance with Australian standards and grid codes (AS/NZS 3000, NEM requirements).
- Analysing operational data to enhance system efficiency and longevity.
What you'll need to succeed
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in renewable energy, energy storage, or power systems engineering.
- Strong knowledge of BESS technologies, including Li-ion and flow batteries, as well as inverters.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, EMS/BMS, and grid interconnection standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar electrical design software.
- Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
- Mandarin proficiency is required as the role involves frequent technical communication with HQ engineering teams.
- Chartered Engineer (CPEng) status or working toward accreditation is a plus.
