We’re urgently seeking a highly skilled Azure Architect / Cloud Administrator to lead the design and deployment of cloud-based solutions for a newly amalgamated government entity.
Your new role
This is a politically significant transformation project with real impact, offering the opportunity to shape cloud strategy and contribute to long-term service delivery improvements.
Key Responsibilities -
- Lead the redesign and migration of legacy services (Access databases, C#, SQL Server, on-prem infrastructure) to Azure.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, operational teams, and senior stakeholders to assess requirements and deliver scalable cloud solutions.
- Administer and optimize the Azure environment for security, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
- Design central tenancy and production subscription models.
- Implement repeatable deployment patterns for Azure services (VMs, databases, storage).
- Document architecture, processes, and transition plans (minimal existing documentation).
- Support service transition across 22 directorates, with 3–4 targeted for migration by year-end.
- Reduce reliance on external agencies
What you'll need to succeed
- 5–6+ years of hands-on experience in Azure architecture and administration.
- Experience with AWS (especially AWS-to-Azure transitions) is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of M365, SharePoint, and EDRMS.
- Proven ability to work across enterprise environments, ideally within SA Government.
- Background in infrastructure, SQL Server, C#, and Access database environments.
- Strong documentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Familiarity with hybrid identity management (Active Directory, Entra Connect Sync, Microsoft Entra ID).
- NPC clearance or ability to obtain.
