Due to strong business growth and transformation, there is now an opportunity for a proven Assistant Accountant in this newly created role.

Your new role

An Assistant Accountant role with an expansive future.

We are looking for a highly driven and dynamic Assistant Accountant. Reporting to the CFO, you will gain extensive exposure to the commercial finance function of this project-based environment. You will be responsible for maintaining financial accuracy, supporting month-end processes, and build the opportunity to develop into the Finance Manager role over time.

• Prepare and post journals including accruals, prepayments and adjustments.
• Support month-end processing, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and analyse variances month-to-month.
• Conduct analytical reviews of financial and operational data.
• Liaise with transactional accounting team to ensure accuracy in invoicing, pending accruals and reconciling accounts.
• Download, validate and upload payroll data into finance systems.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting.
• Maintain the fixed-asset register.
• Support cash flow reporting and bank reconciliations.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have a tertiary degree in Accounting or Commerce (or similar) with at least 3–5 years experience in a similar role, in a commercial environment. Whilst construction or project experience isn't necessary, it will be highly regarded. The ability to work in a fast-paced and transformative environment will be critical. Strong verbal and written communications skills with a variety of stakeholders will also be critical.
