Seeking an experienced Asset Accountant to join a government team ASAP on an initial 6-month temp contract, paying a competitive hourly rate.

Your new role

• Assist and coordinate statutory financial reports, external agency reports and budget estimates
• Liaising with key stakeholders around financial accounting and taxation matters
• Supervise the work activities of relevant finance team members as required
• Manage the compilation of tax returns, including business activity statements
• Review financial statement balance reconciliations
• Ensure that asset management functions are undertaken in accordance with legislative requirements
• Reviews month-end and year-end general ledger closes and journal entries

What you'll need to succeed

• Considerable experience in Financial Accounting and Management, ideally within a government setting
• A good understanding of the Financial Management Act (2006) and Australian Accounting Standards
• Well-developed planning, problem-solving and organisational skills
• A degree qualification in Accounting or relevant discipline
• Advanced technical skills, ideally with excellent proficiency in Excel
